FebHaving Fun by the Beach
So we are in Nha Trang still. Internet is a pain here and the computers you can use barely work so updating the blog is difficult.
So far we have been diving. We went with Rainbow Divers and are so glad. If you are booking diving here check for the Padi logo and check that they are registered on Padi’s website. People may be annoyed by this but it’s a fact that many dive companies here that are registered with other regulators like SSI are companies that have been excluded from Padi.
Anyway, we had four dives and hit 36.7m for the first time. I think Pippa got nitrogen narcosis which makes you act a little drunk as she and the instructor giggled at me. We saw some fish, had a swim and got a new certificate.
We also volunteered to teach English today with one of the charities that deal with children that are the victims of the illegal sex trade here. I ended up being the youngest at my table as all the “kids” were older than me, and I had Crazy Kim the founder of the charity! But it was fun and they were so enthusiastic about it that it was a really nice experience and very different to everything we have done so far. It’s also good practice for when we get into Cambodia and do some more.
We still need to see some of the Vietnamese landscape as we have spent most of our time in cities or travelling overnight. We are planning to either do some treks or tours tomorrow around here or head inland to see some of the higher parts of the country before heading to Saigon to see the nature park, Vietcong tunnels and Mekong delta.
We will do a proper update for Nha Trang eventually when we find a working computer!
